Painted in November 1962 "The Socialite" captures a woman finally out of the spotlight. The Artist Lewis Williams moves away from stiff, formal portraiture to offer a smoky, "behind the velvet curtain" look at high-society life. Wrapped in olive greens and golden ochres, the subject leans into her armchair with a sharp, sculptural poise that feels both elegant and weary.

The piece balances 1960s glamour with a heavy, noir-inspired melancholy. The raw, textured brushwork gives the scene a sense of substance, capturing that specific, lonely vibration of a room once the guests have gone.

This really is a lovely piece of art which would obviously look fantastic in a home but would also make a fantastic addition to businesses like a restaurant, bar or boutique hotel.

All of my items are genuine vintage or antique. Items of this age come with obvious age related knocks, bumps and scratches etc. In my opinion this only adds to their originality and style. If you are looking for pristine furniture or decor I doubt my items will be for you.
